I get it. We all do. We all have a hectic pace to our lives. But that does not mean your bathroom cleaning has to suffer. I ran across this article that if you spend 5 minutes a day on bathroom cleaning, it will not add up to something to dread later. I tried this for the past 4 days. And I’m quite pleasantly surprised that it works wonderfully! Each of the 60 seconds blocks are dedicated to a task. And if you do this daily, your bathroom will stay clean forever. Very nifty advice.
Here’s the article if you want the juicy details.

I admit it. I love candles. I remember when I was a boy. I used to love to read in candlelight. Once we lost power at own home for hours. It was evening. My parents made a game of it with candles. We can relaxed and read in candlelight while my dad played guitar. Anyways, my mom was the one who had that idea. She seems to always have candles burning somewhere in our home. Mostly soy candles because she said it was better for our lungs. Here is a post with 10 beautiful candles for mom. I love you Mom!

Sometimes the most obvious answer is the one staring you at the face. I’ve been trying to think of ways to increase my storage in my bathroom. You know, extra toliet paper, towels and other emergency stuff. All the “furniture” that is made for bathroom use is ugly and useless to me. Until I saw an old cabinet at a garage sale. It was perfect! Wonderful aged wood and enough space for everything. The only thing I had to do is coat it with Thompson Water Seal. Easy as pie. And very happy.

Your family may not be as large as some of those made-for-TV families but no matter the size you still have a lot of organizing and storage needs. With all the schedules and kids of various ages, keeping your home organized is so much more important these days than ever before. Here are a couple tips to start.

Keep things separate. With a large family is important to store things for different people and for different needs in separate bins. For example some kids may be into sports so they would need their gear in a separate box then your artistic child.
Keep bikes off the ground. If you have a lot of bicycles and strollers they can be hung with garage hooks while keeping them out of the way of the garage floor. There some dedicated overhead garage rack bike hooks just for this purpose. This serves not only to keep you garage clutter free, it can be a safety concern as well.
Here are just 2 quick tips. More to follow very soon.
Hi Folks. For those of your in the Spring cleaning mode, one thing you can do to spice up your home is to add some Spring colors. If you’re anything like me, you have a lot of neutrals in your home. I generally lean towards the browns, greys and various whites. But adding just a splash of color can make everything else (including the neutrals) come alive.

Now I’m not talking about paint here. Some accent piece or plant will be fine as a start. Try to align these pieces against windows so that the sunlight can play off of them. Especially if they are glass pieces like the ones on this post. Even something as simple as a new door knob adds a lot of flavor and character. In case you need to move things around, you can always store them in your overhead garage racks. Having less clutter in your home is a sure way to make it more Spring like and peaceful.
One great way to make sure of a wall for storage is a built in wall shelf. There are many different types but they all work the same way. It is a premade unit that embeds into your existing walls. It’s very practical and catches the eye if done right and tastefully. Afterwards, it can be loaded not just with books but knick knacks as well. Or even both. It’s a great way to simply show off your stuff. There are many places to get wall shelves. This post here has some great ideas.
A few tips:
- Make sure you measure and sketch our your plan before buying something. Take the time to do this.
- Try to go from ceiling to floor. This makes the room look taller.
- Always be safe and use a wall anchor in case of home disasters
- Don’t use as stash place and clutter it up. Keep the lines clean
- Think outside the box and maybe even use as a room divider
That’s really all there is to it to wall shelvings. If you’re need more storage in your garage, check out these overhead garage racks that we have. They are strong, useful and easy to install.

With urban life upon us, we are ask to make something out of nearly nothing. As urbanites starts their own families. Sometimes they are not able to immediately move onto larger homes. So, like the crowded cities around the world, they move upward. Which mean storing their personal stuff in a vertical manner. This post here has some fun and innovative ideas on how to do that. You can make sure of racking systems and various shelfing unit to get it done.
This can be applied to any living area, family room, kitchen, bedroom, anywhere really where more space is desided.

Cleaning doesn’t have to be that challenging because you can clean you can clean it in an economical way and doesn’t hurt your budget. I have had the experience of clogged drain and I only used baking soda and vinegar unto it. I pour baking soda down the drain then followed it with vinegar then I pour hot boiling water. Then after that you already have a drain that drains well. You don’t have to call the plumber to help you out with it or purchase a chemical that can harm your skin and your body and drain your wallet out. With this simple tip I hope that you have learned something from it.

Do you ever notice yourself when you go out into the market and you pick up the same item you used to buy? Well I do, because most people would go out in the market repeatedly buying the same brand they use. It’s because we used the brand that we are buying and it is proven and tested that we have loved using the same brand. The same shampoo brand I always used, the toothpaste I used inside the house, the soap we used to clean our bodies, the laundry powder we use, the dishwashing liquid we use and etc. Sometimes I buy other brand but then if I don’t like it I return to the old brand I used to use.

I do laundry but I don’t even know that there are clothes that have specific water temperature to clean them. Although I know that hot water can remove stains and especially those naughty oil stains. I only use hot water if there are hard stains and soaked white clothes especially the white linens. Different clothes have different water temperature to clean. Now, I know why some of my clothes faded easily when I use hot water to clean the stains. It is important to check the manufacturers guide to check what are the best water temperatures to use on your clothe to clean to prevent any damage! Happy washing!

Hmm, I was reminded of my younger years were my mom used to include bleach in our laundry to clean the stains away from my white shirt. But now that I’ve grown up I know how harmful the bleach can cause to my skin if left unwashed with running water well. Plus it isn’t really good for the children. as what we know children are curious and when they find something chances are it will get to their mouths. But one thing I have also learned from my mother that she didn’t leave it on the floor or somewhere I can reach it. if you are going to use bleach make sure that it is out of the reach of the children and if not then you can still use other alternative green cleaners such as lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide. Both of these can clean the hard stains found on your clothes.

I love my bathroom but the only thing that keeps me from loving it is the stains that the hard water from the faucet makes. Here are some facts I have learned about hard water stains: 89.3% of house in the U.S have hard water, the prairie provinces in Canada have also hard water problems, in England most of the cities like London have hard water problems with drinking water and some of the countries have also problems with hard water and even in our homes we have problems with hard water stains particularly in our sink and our bathroom. Good thing there is a solution for it! just a plain white vinegar or lemon juice and it will loosen the stains that the hard water makes!

Fire accident is one of the top accidents that happen in our society. Some of it started with electric faulty, candles left unattended and even stoves unattended burned the entire house. I remember the first time we had experienced a fire inside our house, I got shocked and my mom panicked and took us out of our house and anything that she could save. Good thing was our house wasn’t burn totally, we also had fire extinguisher. The upper portion of our ceiling was the only one that got affected. It was all due to a candle left unattended by one of our housemate. Candles may be romantic but be careful it can burn the whole house. Now, that I have my own house, even the slightest scent of burned paper I suspect fire and detect where it started. It is always important to be always alert and keep matched and lighters out of children’s sight. Lastly, keep a fire extinguisher inside the house to prevent further damage.

I know this season and holidays you and your family members have been frequently using your microwave. And boy what a mess and smelly it is right now. With the frequent use of the microwave it leaves toasted splash of food particles or liquid inside the microwave. But never worry there is a solution for those problems! And also a green way to clean and eliminate that bad smell in your microwave! It is no other than the baking soda. Just mix 4 tbsp of baking soda in a quart of water and use it to clean your microwave. However if the stains are hard to eliminate you can mix a tablespoons of baking soda in water placed in a microwave safe cup and heat it in the microwave, this makes it more easy to clean the hard ones and eliminate the odor that stayed there. Have a happy microwave cleaning!:)

What are your new year’s resolutions for this coming year 2012 for your house and your housekeeping? Well, for me the top in my new year’s resolution list is to stop procrastinating! I really do have the problem with procrastinating one job, even if it can be done in a few minutes I tend to take it after a few periods of time. Bad right?hehe.. Anyway, we move on to the next from the top 1 from my list. The second is my forgetful thought, sometimes I think my memory is a little bit impaired because it tend to forget things that I should buy from the grocery. The grocery list is the most important thing that I should do on hand before going to the grocery shop! Do you have a new year’s resolution for your house and housekeeping for this coming year?

I was cleaning our house, as usual I vacuum our sofa and wipe every dust from every furniture and tables, I also wiped every switch light in our house, mopped the floor and changed the outside rug and everything that needs to be done cleaning I did. After doing all the chores I thought to myself I should take a rest and enjoy a little moment of relaxing before I take a nice warm relaxing bath. After a few hours I saw many cob webs on our room, funny thing I thought that my house was now clean after doing super cleaning but it wasn’t. I wasn’t clean after all. I decided to clean the cob webs next week because I was already clean and fresh from bath.. Hehe.. There are times when no matter how much you put effort in one thing you’ll miss something like what I missed—the cob webs.

Christmas Eve is near and can only be counted with one hand. Everybody in the house is excited to celebrate it. As for me, I’m not really excited about it, since I have so many things to by first. I do have a list for every person I am going to give a gift. Every Christmas I always see to it that I give something to people who are special and close to my heart. But right now I still haven’t bought gifts for my sister, my brother and mother in law. I have already bought gifts for the rest of my family members I haven’t mentioned. I have to go to the market to hurry and buy the last minute gift that suits their personality. Have a happy Christmas and a blessed new year everyone!

I don’t know why but I really do love to wash the dirty dishes. I don’t have a problem with my hands getting wet with water and with soap. I don’t prefer to use the dishwasher because I love to wash the dishes. Sometimes when I go to other houses I wash their dishes after eating. In our home I am the one who is in charge of washing the dishes every after eating our meal. Plus we don’t have to spend our money buying the dishwasher and save it. When me and my husband were still new in our married life, we decided to spend the money intended for the dishwasher on other kitchen materials needed inside our kitchen. Washing the dishes is really not a big deal for me.

I really am fond of non-green cleanser because it smells fresh and leaves that feeling of a clean scent in our house. unlike with green cleansers or home made cleansers they don’t have that aroma that non-green cleansers leave in the air. I admit I sometimes use them when cleaning as though I can’t help myself from buying their products in the supermarket. But I make it a point that I don’t expose them daily and to my family. AS there are many dangerous chemicals along with them. When you use them make sure you have protection for yourself, use gloves and mask when handling them. Or else you would find yourself in a consequence you don’t want to be into.

Christmas is the time for giving (or is it just only on Christmas?). For me anytime of the year is the right time for gift giving. But mostly we people, only give gifts on Christmas. We have lots of Christmas party that requires having an exchange gift. We attend to Christmas party to celebrate the essence of Christmas. And we do also give lots of presents to our family during this time. So how do we keep up with the gift wrapping? I love to wrap gifts and I think I wouldn’t find it a hard job for me like others who hate wrapping gifts. The easiest way to wrap your gift is to buy a paper bag which can be found in the market. If you think you are too lazy to wrap then buy paper bags to wrap all your presents. Have a happy holiday.
